i am a changed woman. okay, that's a bit dramatic, but all my life i've been a silver type of girl...as pretty as gold looks, i've just never been drawn to it and have neglected nearly every gold item i own in favor of lighter hued metals.
well, like my first hyperbolic sentence suggests, i am a convert. lately i have been obsessed with gold anything and have frantically been digging out all my neglected gold pieces. here are a few of my favorites...

sparrow earrings from topshop - picked these up about 3 years ago in london..these get so much attention when i wear them. they look a lot more expensive than they actually were, which is always nice!
michael kors rose gold watch - christmas gift from mum and dad...this is the piece that made me go ga ga for gold! it goes with everything and i love it.
madewell red enamel and diamante necklace - i've recently gotten really into madewell and this necklace is one of the nicest things that i have purchased from them. they have some amazing jewellery that is actually reasonably priced and of good quality.
claddagh ring - this one is really sentimental for me...it was a gift from my aunt and holds a special place in my heart.
orly rage nail polish - i am an absolute nail polish whore, but this is easily in my top 5 varnishes of all time. it looks so amazing and flattering on the nails and is such a unique rose gold color.

now i don't know if i would wear this all at once, but a flash of gold here and there is perfect. moderation is the key because other wise i might start to resemble
this guy .

this nail combo that i'm currently donning is completely inspired by the ever so lovely vivianna's recent blog post. i usually go for bright, somewhat "out there" colors on my nails, so this nude-y pink is a refreshing change for me...typically darker shades are more gravitated towards during the wintry months, but i am all for the white christmas snow queen vibe...and plus the sparkle from the glitter polish makes things super festive!

just a quick one from me today...i'm off to enjoy this weeks episode of the new girl with a hot cup of tea and half a krispy kreme!!

it's been quite a while! summer was hot and beautiful and way too fast! it could possibly have been my last summer in california for a while, so i tried to soak in every second of it. school is nearly done and i can't believe that in about a months time, i'll be done with university! i technically should have been done a few months ago, but c'est la vie. no idea what i'll be doing after graduation...i'll likely be witnessing first hand the uselessness of a degree in english literature!

anyway, this post comes out of the blue and is totally random but for about the 498234 zillionth time, i've decided to give this another crack which will inevitably last about 5 minutes...blogging may not be for me, but i do enjoy looking back at my sporadic attempts so that's good enough for me. this is going to be a in and out type of post, which i enjoy reading more than i probably should.

IN:

- made in chelsea: words cannot express how obsessed i am with this show...yes, it's a bit cheesy and ott but omgiloveit! i love the characters (is that what we call reality show people?) and the way it's edited with great music and shots of beautiful london...it's basically the perfect show for me. on a side note, i nearly DIED when rosie from the show tweeted me! i'm obsessed with her style and blog!

- british television in general...mic gets it's own spot because it holds a special place in my heart, but there's a bunch of other UK shows that i'm loving...i'm so glad that misfits is back, but i'm not too sure how i feel about the new guy...still it's one of my faves so i'm looking forward to the new season. i'm also loving x factor! i've heard people complaining that this season isn't great, but i'm enjoying it a lot more than the us version. my fave so far is janet and my mom is obsessed with marcus...she calls him her "pet"! bless.

- UD naked palette: everyone has this. it's amazing and basically contains every eyeshadow i could ever need or want...from simple to smokey, this palette is lush.

- florence + the machine's new album: tribal, haunting, gorgeous. i want florence to be the soundtrack of my life. if you haven't listened, trust me...it's worth it.
- we found love...the latest song from rihanna. i think the video is brilliant and i can't stop singing the song. it's not the type of music i typically go for, but i'm so into it!

OUT:

- los angeles weather: seriously? 80 degrees in november? i was sweating drinking my pumpkin spice latte today. i need to wear boots soon, so the weather is going to have to cooperate with me.

- school: i know, i'm almost done, but i am so not feeling it right now. i've got papers, exams and presentations all creeping up on me and i just don't want to deal with it right now!

- topshop & their unfair pricing: there's so much that i want to order from them right now, but the us pricing is just ridiculous. most cases the conversion is almost twice as expensive!!?!

so i guess that's a bit of an update/ where my brain is right now... hope you are all doing well and have a beautiful day!

p.s. just so this isn't entirely text...adele is ALWAYS AND FOREVER IN! but i would like her to quit smoking please, because that voice is just too precious to play around with.

even though wishlists kind of make me feel greedy i'm always making them, both mentally and in my wishlist folder (seriously). i don't necessarily buy everything on my lists...most are ridiculous things i could never afford, but i just can't help making them! these four items are things that have running through my mind and are a bit more practical than the other things that have been haunting my dreams lately (tom ford?! mulberry?! dangerous.)

in a recent post i was contemplating jc litas and didn't know which color to get...well, i think i made up my mind! these mint green suede ones jumped out at me and it was love at first sight. they may not be a 'classic' choice but mint green is my absolute favorite color and since i tend to stick to neutrals in my clothing choices, i feel like the mint would add an interesting element. and how perfect would they be for spring/summer?? right...i'm off to order them! :P

i've developed the biggest style girl crush on kate bosworth in recent weeks. i used to completely overlook her because, let's be honest what has she actually been in?! i watched blue crush and yes, it temporarily changed my life and made me want to be a surfer chick - there was a point in my life where i wore only roxy and used ~hawaiian lingo, brah~ but that was 10 years ago.

also she dated orlando bloom, who was THE LOVE OF MY LIFE when i was 14. i was bitter to say the least. and then more recently, she's been dating alexander skarsgard aka eric northman aka onehotpieceofass. *sighhh*, the girl has it good.

anyway, i've moved on from my petty bitterness and am turning a blind eye to the fact that i don't really know what she "does" (other than steal all the beautiful men i have ever loved.. i kid!) and just embraced that fact that she is gorgeous and has pretty rad style.

her night time, event-ish style is often really simple but so chic and glamorous while her daytime looks are more grungy and laidback, which i love. i think her style is very "me" and i've been taking a lot of inspiration from her lately. what i love most is that it all seems very effortless and natural.

life lately...

finally summer break is here!! well...kind of. i'm taking summer classes so that i will be done with school earlier than expected, but it's only six weeks and they're night classes, so i still have all day to be lazy and summery! i can't believe that after this summer, i'll be in my last semester of university!! time gone by all too quickly but i can't wait for what the future holds..anyway. i figured i'd do a little "random things i'm loving type thing" they seem to be the easiest thing to do when pressed for ideas.

1. i'm absolutely LOVING chanel's vitalumiere aqua foundation! the coverage and the finish that it leaves on the skin is just gorgeous. i used to use nars sheer glow, but this is definitely my new love. it's pricey at around $45, but the quality is just incomparable. i also love the makeup on the promotional image...it's everything i love about summer makeup - simple but so pretty!

2. gaga is back! well, she's never really gone anywhere, but her new album came out today and i've been listening to it all day...i know she may not be everyone's cup of tea, and for a long time she wasn't mine either, but now i'm obsessed! definitely my guilty please...i've been singing edge of glory non-stop...at first i was thinking "this is too normal to be gaga"...and then the 80's-tastic saxophone solo hits you....so random!

3. i'm currently lusting over jeffrey campbell lita's...now this is noteworthy for me because i used to really not like them...but i saw a girl wearing them a few days ago irl and all of a sudden i just had to have them. i also saw this post by gabriella at not so basic and they looked so awesome on her that it just made me want to get them even more...the only question now is, which color???

4. i've been loving piling on the bracelets and these from h&m are my current faves...the colors are so gorgeous and i cannot believe they only cost $3.95!! i would honestly have paid 5x that amount for them!!

5. and lastly, i am SO excited to be seeing adele at the greek theatre on june 6!!! she is just so talented, it kills me. her voice...oh my god, it quite literally sends shivers down my spine and brings tears to my eyes. love her!

i need these shoes in my life. they have that lolita-esque thing going on, which i'm way into. but at the same time they're pretty practical because we all know giant front platforms make otherwise ridiculous shoes feel almost comfortable. almost.

my heart seriously skipped a beat when i saw this lydia courteille ring for the first time. i think it's absolutely stunning and is everything i could ever ask for in a ring. unfortunately this little beauty will never belong to me...it's listed as 'price available upon request' which we all know are four of the scariest words in the english language. i did some research on the designer and found this other piece from the browns website...it costs more than my entire life, pretty much. wow.

and onto one of the weirder things i've seen this week..out of nowhere, i decided that i was interested in a black chainmail shirt. to be honest, i don't think i even really knew what that meant, so i googled it. one of the results was this:

THIS IS A REAL THING!!! i was equally parts disturbed and intrigued. apparently it's capable of withstanding small shark attacks. always a plus. and it's fully wearable, perfect for battle AND wrinkle free!! but unfortunately, another reviewer pointed out that it's greasy, so i think i'm gonna have to pass :(

lipstick letters and souveniers

as we all know, bright lips were all over the spring/summer runways, so they're likely to be huge this season. the weather has been so warm and summery here, so i've been pulling out my favorite hot pinks, corals and reds, and the one that i have been exceptionally into has been the ysl rouge volupté in no 27. i got it a few months ago from a lovely blog sale, but only started really wearing it recently. it's such a gorgeous bright neon corally pink, but at the same time very wearable. i'd say it's close to impassioned by mac, but in much nicer packaging and of a more luxurious quality. i'm so impressed with this lipstick and i know it's going to be my color this summer! i'm also looking into getting an orange lipstick...i'm thinking chanel rogue allure in exotic? we shall see! for now i'll leave you with a dorky pic of me modeling the lippy...the picture doesn't do the color justice, it's really something you need to see in life to appreciate it's fierceness.

my favorite way to wear it has been like this, with no other makeup, at least during the day.

ponyo is one of the most adorable movies that i have ever seen. ponyo is a goldfish princess that loves a human boy, and when she uses her father's magic to turn into a girl, the world goes out of balance. the anime visuals are so cute and the story is so simple, yet so beautiful. i highly recommend the movie, even if anime isn't your thing. check out the trailer here!

these are my new shoes and i am absolutely obsessed with them. don't let my silly little camera phone picture fool you, for in real life these things are little beauts. i really think these shoes embody granny chic at it's finest, but at the same time there is something so modern and youthful about them. perhaps the fact that they have GLITTER SHIMMERY BITS all over? yes, you might not be able to notice in pictures, but irl they're there. i am a sucker for anything that sparkles. call me roisin the magpie.

joie de vivre: golden statues and fancy packaging

- i just finished watching the oscars and am so pleased that natalie portman won. i feel like i've been talking about her lately so much, both here and in real life. i honestly think that she is the greatest actress of my generation, and on top of that she is such a smart and beautiful woman. she deserved that oscar! my other faves colin firth and the kings speech won as well. if only helena bonham carter won, then everything would have been perfect!

- again, another busy busy week on the education front. i'm drowning in school work, as per usual. i have a presentation on tuesday on a book that i haven't even begun reading so....yeah. better get on that.

- after much searching i finally tracked downa bottle of john freida 3 day straight. i must have gone to about 6 different stores trying to find this, so it better be worth it. i have the frizziest, most annoying hair, so if this stuff does as it promises, i'll be a happy camper!

- i tried on tom ford lipstick in the color pink dusk...so. damn. gorgeous. but the price! $45 for a lipstick is insanity (but it's tom ford!...thats what the little demon on my left shoulder was saying to me)

- lastly, i did some shopping this week in the urban outfitters sale. i got quite a few good things at really great prices. i might do a blog post if i'm able to photograph the items to my satisfaction. i don't know about you, but i have a thing against "hauls". i know that most people don't do it to show off, but i still find it somewhat pointless. and don't get me going on the actual word "haul". it makes my skin crawl.

night blooming flowers and the scent of the ocean

i've never really been one to wear perfume on a daily basis...until now that is. i've just found my dream fragrance and i've been singing it's praises from the rooftops. not really, but you know what i mean. my scent of choice is miss dior cherie. i love everything about this perfume. it's name represents it well, because it's such a youthful, fun and carefree fragrance. i'm awful at describing scents, but according to the description, the notes in miss dior cherie include jasmine, citrus, patchouli, musk, strawberries and caramel popcorn, of all things. whatever, is in it, it's working for me. the bottle is so simple and chic, something you'll be proud to show off on your dressing table. and to top it all off, the face of the perfume is the insanely gorgeous and talented natalie portman (have you seen black swan? if you haven't, go. now.)and who could ever forget that beautiful sofia coppola directed commercial? i honestly can't say enough good things about this amazing perfume...i'm in love!

joie de vivre: childhood dreams and chocolate

a lot of the blogs that i read feature a weekly summary type thing, where on a certain day of the week (mostly sundays) the writer does a little recap of some of the things that they have done in the past week...i always love reading those types of posts...maybe cause i'm nosy? anyway, i thought i'd try it out myself, and if it's something i like doing then i'll make it a regular thing...well, you know, i'll try to ;)

i tried to think a clever title for it, something really cute and witty, but everything just sounded lame. in the meantime i'm going to be calling this "feature" joie de vivre - one of my favorite french sayings. not everything that happens in my life is incredibly joyous, but in general...life is sweet. so this is going to be a little celebration of life, both the good and the bad. here goes...

- at the beginning of the week i reconnected with a childhood friend, someone i hadn't seen or heard from in about 10 years! we met up later in the week for a starbucks and just caught up with each others lives. these are the only times that i actually am grateful for facebook!

- may seem boring to you all, but i finally tackled the jungle that has become my room. i've been so disgustingly lazy over the past few weeks and my room became so chaotic, with clothes, shoes, books and magazines everywhere. i'm still not 100% done, but let's put it this way...i can actually see the floor, which has been hiding since about christmas.

- i finally got the mumford & sons album! i've been a fan for a while now, but was lazy and just listened to the songs on youtube. i'm so glad i went ahead and got the full album, because i've been listening to it non-stop and it's brilliant.

- school has taken over my life. i'm taking 6 different english classes and they're all beginning to get mixed up into one big jumble of authors and theories and novels...i can't wait for spring break!

- i've eaten an unhealthy amount of this in the past week.

i guess that's it for now...i promise to get better at this. i probably picked a weird week to start this because this week has been on the uneventful side, but oh well. hope you all have a fab day!

lately i've become fascinated with flesh-tone everything. i know this isn't a "new trend" or anything, but my wardrobe consists mainly of black, charcoal, navy and grey. colour is something that i never usually gravitate towards when it comes to my clothes, so all these nudes, beiges, pinks, etc. are very out of character for me. i've also been weirdly fascinated with "granny chic" which, again, is unlike what i typically go for. here's a few things i've been lusting over on the topshop website.

i've been obsessed with rodarte ever since i first laid eyes on their work. literally love at first sight. laura and kate are modern day fashion rockstar geniuses. sadly, their lovely creations are well above the budget of a poor student like me. they have brought their clothes to the masses through a collection for target. but unfortunately that one was just not for me. however, this newer diffusion line that they've come up with, for opening ceremony, is right up my street. i love every piece and i'm obsessed with the lookbook. the thing is...even opening ceremony is just too darn expensive. i guess i'll just have to continue admiring their work à la distance.

just a quick post to let you all know that i'm alive and not dead! i'm not even going to bother making excuses as to why my posts are so sporadic. i would like to get into the habit of doing this more regularly, but it's not something i can really force myself to do. anyway, i gave the blog a little face-lift. it's still very minimal, which i love, but has a little more character and warmth...at least, i hope!

yesterday really was one of the most peaceful and lovely days that i've had in quite some time. i went up to santa barbara and it was the most perfect mini getaway and exactly what i needed to clear my head and put things into perspective. as of late, my mind has been a rather frantic place to be, so to be able to escape and just live in the moment...i couldn't ask for more. the trip was just a spur of the moment thing, and i think it's those little adventurous moments in life that really make all the difference.

go and have your own adventure. we all need one every once in a while.

it's kind of crazy how quickly time goes by. i have no idea how christmas has managed to sneak up on me like this. as usual, i've procrastinated like no tomorrow and have yet to do any of my shopping. every year i tell myself that i won't put it off until the last minute, and here i am, yet again, trying desperately to rack my brains for any last minute gift ideas. le sigh.

the weather in los angeles makes it so hard to get into the holiday spirit. no matter what decorations i put up, the bright sunshine outside seems to contradict it all. we've had some rain for the past few days which has been a lovely change but the next week has been giving the all clear, and the forecast for christmas is 'sunny'. oh well, i guess i'm just going to have to make due with what i've got.

i haven't blogged in months. i actually took down all my previous entries, because i was looking back at them and just didn't recognize the words as my own. something has happened within me that has changed who i am and i don't know what it is. i guess it's just plain old growing up. two years have passed since i started this blog and so much has changed. people that i loved have gone, i've met new people that i now have grown to love. i've seen new things- listened to amazing music, seen brilliant movies, read life-changing books, been to magical places and tasted heavenly foods. everyone goes through changes. that's what life is.

but one thing that bothers me is that i feel like i've lost some passion along the way. i really don't know how to explain it, and i really don't feel like i have to. in my soul, i know what's wrong, but my brain can't rationalize and put it into cognitive thoughts.

which is why i've decided to start blogging again. it doesn't matter who reads this. i'm doing it for myself, to reignite my fire, so to speak.

one of the things that has been troubling me is that i haven't written in almost two months. my moleskine lies next to my bed, untouched. i used to write in that thing every single day. i'm off to mexico this weekend, hopefully i'll be inspired by something there. it's too beautiful to not find inspiration somewhere. hopefully it's there, waiting for me.

4/15/2011 UPDATE: I have decided to re-publish all my old entries. I deleted them because I they "didn't feel like me" but what i understand now is that despite the fact that i have changed (this is a good thing!) it doesn't negate who i was before. you should never try to hide who you were or feel like your past is something that you should try and cover up. every single word you think or thing you do leads you into becoming your present self.

so yeah, these previous posts may not represent the place i'm currently in, but they very much represent where i have been and that's just as important.

maybe i'm being melodramatic, but it's how i see it, for now at least.

so sorry for the more than sporadic posting. school has been way too hectic for my liking, but the good news is, i'm going to be taking 2 months off after christmas, so hopefully i can use that time to work on this blog!

anyway...luella is one of my favorite contemporary designers. i absolutely adore her designs, so naturally, i was so shocked and sad to hear the news that her line is the latest victim of the crappy economy. if you look at back at my first (and only) outfit post, i was wearing my favorite luella blazer. i don't know what can be done, but so far i've done the whole #saveluella thing on twitter and joined the save luella page on facebook. whether it's too late or not, remains to be seen, but hopefully this is not the end of luella!

as of yesterday, this blog is officially one year old. and yet, i only have a handful of posts. over this past year i've made excuses for why i haven't been blogging on a regular basis. i guess i just assumed that it was because i didn't have enough time or whatever, but as i thought about it, i came to the realization that i'm just not cut out to be a fashion blogger. i could never think of anything inspiring enough or original enough to post. something that wouldn't be a waste of your time.

with that said, this isn't goodbye. just a little bit of a makeover. a new chapter, if you will. looking back at the posts i've done this year, i honestly don't even feel like it was me writing them. maybe i've changed as a person. i really don't know. but reading back on them just made me realize that i need to move on. i've decided to make this blog more of a personal journal for myself. not like...dear diary, today i...no. from now on i'll just be posting whatever i'm thinking of, or feeling, or loving, or hating at the moment. of course there will still be fashion related things because after all, fashion is one of the loves of my life. it just won't be the main focus as much.

my life isn't terribly exciting. this'll just be something for me to look back on and be able to use to look at how i grow as a person. if i still have readers, great. if i have zero readers, great. this really is something i'm doing for myself. feel free to stay tuned & read, but by all means, please don't feel obliged.

I love early spring days. When the sun is shining, but it's not sizzling, and theres a cool breeze. And the air smells fresh and clean. Bonus points if the birds are singing!

What time do you usually get up?
I'm really bad...On school days, I have to leave the house at 7:45 and I usually get up at like...7:30. No joke. So I'm usually running around the house, cursing every single morning. And I'm late to everywhere I go. No matter how hard I try, I never learn.

What is your most challenging goal right now?
I'm not really happy at the school I'm at right now, so I'm in the process of transferring. I'm done with applications, so now I'm just waiting to see if the school I want to go to accepts me. The wait is killing me.

I am completely obsessed with everything English. The cities, the countryside, the customs, the people - everything. Ever since childhood, I have loved all things British. I believe that I also tried to switch over to an English accent once or twice.

So I thought it proper to dedicate a post to my favorite country in the world! There are so many reasons why I love Blighty, but here are a few...

1. London... my favorite city in the ENTIRE PLANET! I've been there a few times, but the last time I went was when I was 17, and I just felt such a connection to that place. I felt at home - like I was where I belonged. I loved all the different little neighborhoods and the shopping was amazing. I can't wait until I live there.

2. It girls... all of my fashion saavy favorites seem to come out of England. Coincidence? I think not.

3. Tea...anyone that knows me knows that I'm slightly obsessed with sipping on tea. Good old English Breakfast is my fave.

4. Boys... I am a sucker for lovely British men. These 2 just happen to be my favorites. Look at those devilish grins. Yes, please!

5. British words... Even though I have a far inferior accent (Californian - gag me) I still like to talk as if I were English. Favorite words of mine include bloody, dodgy, knickers, telly, and wanker. I think wanker is #1.

I'm totally addicted to The Kills, and their lead singer Alison "VV" Mosshart is just so cool, I can hardly stand it. I love her music, her style...basically everything about her. And today a little birdy (aka the radio) told me that she's gonna be part of a new band featuring Jack White and some other really cool musicians. Can't wait to see what that sounds like.

Today was a lovely day in LA. Not too hot, not too cold...my favorite. Spring is in the air (cheesy!) and I just love it. I was having tea today in my backyard, when a squirrel climbed down from a tree and stood literally 2 feet away from me. I thought they're supposedly scared of humans?? Well this one wasn't, because he seriously stared me down. And then he "dogged me". Meanest squirrel ever!

I also did a tiny bit of shopping at f21 and H&M . Just stocked up on some t-shirts and such for summer. I got a few really cool tank tops from f21 that look just like the T by Alexander Wang ones, except for they only cost $6. I think I'll still get an A. Wang one, but I just couldn't resist that sweet deal. I also got some pants from H&M...I think they're supposed to be sleepwear, but they're very harem-like so I think I'm going to wear them like such.

Apparently it's by Delfina Delettrez. Her designs are brilliant and it was like instant love. Unfortunately, they're also very $$$, which means that I most likely will never own any of it. But I'm allowed to drool over it, I think. Some more pieces that I love...

damn, no one told me that getting a decent outfit shot would be so difficult. Or maybe it's just me (probably)...Since I got so many nice comments on my last personal picture, I thought that every once in a while I could do an outfit post. I had some free time today, which is a luxury these days, and decided that my outfit was semi-decent enough to post. But unfortunately I didn't have a photographer on hand, so I had to resort to other options. First, I tried to do the old mirror photo deal...so cheesy. I took about a million pictures just like this one before I realized that I wasn't getting the bottom half in...

So that wouldn't cut it...I decided to use the self-timer. Only problem is, I hate using flash and the lighting in my house wasn't ideal. I went outside...and out there it was too bright. All the pictures ended up with my face looking extremely angry and/or squinty. Not a good look. This is one of the only decent shots I got...

I'm so torn about these doc marten boots. I really love them on other people, but I just don't know if they're right for me. They were my moms from the 90's, I'm guessing? I've had them laying around forever, so I decided to take them out for a test drive today and wore them to class. They're....big. They're the right size, but they just feel so bulky, you know? They're very different from the shoes that I usually wear. And I feel like my legs are too short for them. I think they make me look even shorter than I actually am. Which is short. I don't know...maybe I'll try them again, maybe not.

Originally I was going to do a post on all the happenings at fashion week, but I thought it would be a little repetitive to just post the same shots that you're most likely seeing everywhere else. So I decided to just hold off until the very end and just do a post with my very favorite looks. So for now, I'm doing a "beauty post". I kind of hate calling it that, as it implies that it takes makeup and such to be beautiful...which it doesn't. But I guess that's just the understood name for these types of things. C'est la vie.

I don't really wear much makeup. In fact, a lot of days I hardly wear any at all, but these items are the main things that I use...

1. Neutrogena Original facial bar - I swear by this stuff. I used to spend lots of money on fancy cleansers, but this one time, on vacation in Mexico I forgot to bring my cleanser. This was the stuff that they had in the hotel, so I had to use it. Long story short, my skin never looked better after that incident and I have been using it ever since. Plus, it's dirt cheap which doesn't hurt.

2. Lush Celestial moisturizer - This cream is amazing. The smell, the texture, everything. It's all natural, organic, and handmade too. I just love how soft it makes my skin feel. This is what I imagine heaven smells like.

3. Bare Minerals powder in fairly light - I'm completely new to foundation. As in, I just started wearing it 2 weeks ago. But already, I can tell that this stuff is awesome. I only use a verrry tiny amount because I hate that makeup-y look, but it really evens everything out and looks very natural.

4. Rosebud Salve lip balm - I've gone through so many tins of this balm, and I never tire of it. I love the natural color and the silky smooth feel when it's on my lips.

5. Benefit gilded eyeliner - If I'm just going to wear this on an everyday basis, I use a small amount for a little bit of gold shimmer, but if I'm going out or something, I like to put a little more and do a bit of a gold smokey eye.

6. Chanel Exeptionnel de Chanel mascara - The most perfect mascara ever. I've tried so many and never found one I was completely satisfied with until I found this one. It gives killer volume and actually holds the curl on my eyelashes, something no other mascara could do.

7. MAC eye kohl in smolder - I love how intense the color is on this. Plus, it's super soft and perfect for smudging to create the easiest smokey eye ever.

Feast your eyes on my very first polyvore creation! Well, I guess it isn't spectacular, but I'm just learning the inner workings of that thing. A lot of the polyvore sets I've seen in the past have been really creative, with all sorts of crazy background images and techno stuff that I could never do myself. So this will have to suffice for me. I kind of like the simplicity of it all. What can I say, I'm a simple girl.

So yeah, this is just a starting point. I filled this set with things that I'm kind of crazy about at this minute. How mental is that Balmain skirt?? Love it. And those shoes...oldies, but goodies. I've loved those shoes from the second I laid eyes on them. Ok, story time...I was at some random Nordstrom Rack a few days after Thanksgiving and I'm looking in the shoe section and what do I see? Yes, these bad boys. Reduced down to $199! I was secretly dying and hyperventilating. BUT NO! I try them on and they're a size too big. Obviously, I was devastated. So I did a bad thing. I was so angry that I decided that if I couldn't have them, then nobody could. And I hid them in the mens section. Am I wicked or what? I felt really badly about it later on. I'm guessing an employee found it eventually, right? Whatever, I'm still bitter.

Alright, so back to business. I took a short break, got my self together and now I'm back and looking forward to coming up with some news posts. I'm thinking a beauty post sometime soon, maybe an awesome collage (maybe not so awesome considering my photoshop skills...) and lots of general fashion week craziness within the next few weeks. But first, a rumor that I'm dying turns out to be true...
Ok, how freaking sweet would it be if French Vogue were to publish a teen edition of their amazing magazine? I know, right?! It would own. Well, it could possibly happen, according to Fashion Week Daily. Carine is supposedly gathering potential editors amongst her chic crew. The only think that makes me a tiny bit sad is that the rumors are suggesting that the teen version would only be published biannually. Still, if it's going to be as amazing as my imagination says it's going to be (which is nothing short of epic--like the bastard love child with all the sensibility of American Teen Vogue and the style of French Vogue) then I think I'll be able to cope with 2 editions a year. Definitely something to look forward to!

As we all know, Azzedine Alaia is, like, a totally important designer. (I know I'm not the only one who loves Clueless!!) I seriously would kill for Alaia-anything. I think he's just so talented and I completely fall in love with every piece of his I've ever seen. Despite having a huge following among the Vogue set, Alaia has managed to stay rather elusive. His collections aren't ubiquitous and carried at every single high fashion emporium (Marc Jacobs, I'm looking at you!) and he doesn't show regularly at any fashion week. So, I guess it's pretty much agreed that American Vogue just isn't what it used to be, right? What used to be a publication on the cutting edge of fashion featuring the top supermodels, has now been reduced to a generic, predictable magazine featuring whatever celebrity has something they need to promote. I mean, Blake Lively?? Seriously?! Couldn't they at least have sprung for Leighton?

Still, I think the upcoming documentary which just showed at Sundance will be interesting to see. While her work may not be as amazing as her French counterpart Carine, it's no doubt that Anna Wintour's role in the fashion industry is huge. I think it'll be kind of fascinating to see what she has to day, seeing as she rarely gives out interviews. I'm not really sure when this'll be out, but I'm definitely looking forward to it.

Clubmasters!

I really love wayfarers. However, I love them more in a Breakfast at Tiffany's way than in a dirty hipster sort of way. But nowadays, with everybody and their mother wearing them, I feel like I need to give mine a bit of a rest. Because I'm so devoted to the shape/vibe of the wayfarers, I needed to find an alternative that didn't depart too much from my beloved Ray-Bans. In comes the clubmaster.

At first, I didn't like clubmasters at all. After seeing them make a cameo on the faces of Mary-Kate and Rachel Bilson, I decided to declare them hideous. But I guess things change, because for the last couple of weeks I've been dying for a pair. I thought it was just a phase, so I decided that I would just buy a cheapie, throwaway pair from Urban or F21. But, luckily for me, they were out. I really don't know what made me change my mind so abruptly and decide that they were crucial to my existance. I'm thinking this love machine had a little something to do with it:

My budget is pretty much pea-sized right now, so I had to find a pair at a good price. At times like that, ebay is your friend. After some tedious searching, I finally found a pair that met my needs. A fierce bidding war that came down to the last few seconds and a victory dance later, and they were mine! So ever since then, they're basically all I can think about. I can't wait for them to arrive. A few pictures from the listing are in order, no?

Ahhh! I'm so excited! I just really hope these don't get hugely popular, like wayfarers. I've already thought up a million ways to incorporate them into my outfits and stuff, just because I'm a dork like that. I already know that I'm going to be replicating this look in the very near future.

My name is Róisín. Living in the US, when people hear/see my name they're usually like...huh?? I don't blame them. If it weren't my name, I probably wouldn't know how to pronounce it either. Sometimes it gets annoying having to correct people calling me Roy-sin. This is a big problem when I go to Pinkberry. They spell my name wrong on the sticker, and they say it wrong, and then my friends laugh at me. But what am I going to do? This one time in Dublin, I was at Topshop and I was having the saleslady put something on hold for me. She asked for my name. No strange reaction. She spelled it properly on the little paper thingy. It was awesome. Well, I'm pretty much rambling now, so I should probably stop.

Oh, and if anyone is reading this, thinking...So how do you say it? : It's Row-Sheen.

Anywhoo, this one time I was googling myself (you know you've done it too) and obviously not much came up, but the wonderful people at Google inadvertently led me to Róisín Murphy. I looked at a few of her pictures and read her bio and I was intrigued. Then I listened to her music and it was all over. Fierce fashion, amazing music, and a fun, quirky personality? And a super cool name to boot! Count me in!

Just look at this. How many people can pull this off? Honestly.

This girl has more coolness in her left earlobe than I do in my entire body.

Loser. No matter how you say it, it's the perfect way to describe me in terms of this blog. I'm such a loser blogger. Ok, so a few weeks ago I had a post all about how I was dissapointed in myself for neglecting the blog and how I was going to attempt to change that. Yeah, well that obviously didn't happen. Third times a charm, right? Maybe this time I won't be Flaky McFlake and actually gets some posts going...

Just in case my MILLIONS of readers are wondering whats going on, I took the initiative and gave the blog a little bit of a makeover. A fresh new start, you know? Maybe a change of environment will get the creative juices flowing.

This snap really captures the mood I'm in right now. I don't really know why, it just does. I think it might have to do with the fact that I'm feeling unusually badass at the moment. I can just read her mind...What foo'...I said NO!

I love reading fashion magazines as much as the next person, but a lot of times I find it a little hard to get real life inspiration from the editorials in magazines. Sure, they're pretty to look at, but I think that the looks represented there need to be taken with a grain of salt. So a lot of the fashion inspiration that I try to apply to my everyday style comes from people off the street...my fellow human beings, if you will. Here's a few of the shots that I've seen recently that have sent my heart aflutter...

I basically dig everything that this girl has going on. Her look is so simple, easy and chic. How does she get ther hair looking so sexily dishevled? Everytime I try to go for a similar look, I end up looking like a lion.

Another way cool Swede. Again, her style is oh-so-simple and carefree. We're getting a bit closer to the lion-look I mentioned previously. Except she manages to make it look good. Boo.

Woo hoo! I love this outfit. Those YSL booties are ah-mazing. Anyway, I don't know how practical this outfit is, seeing as she's wearing a tank top with a scarf and tights...But who cares? Since when is fashion supposed to make sense? If only I had the guts to wear a zippered bandage skirt...

Ah, Taylor Tomasi. I love the colors she has going on here. That bright cerulean Fendi (I like to throw in The Devil Wears Prada lingo at every possible oppurtunity, btw) contrasted with her flaming red hair is just love. And speaking of love...that necklace? Gimme!!

Another great display of color. This combo is gorgeous.

And lastly...Genevieve Jones. Now normally I'm not a huge fan of hers, but I swooned when I saw this outfit. That shirt needs to find it's way into my closet. And to those who, like me, plan on copying this outfit in the near future...the visible nipple is optional. Just thought I should let you know.

I have been really bad lately. I follow the blogs of others religiously, yet I can't even be bothered to drop by my own every once in a while. Didn't I warn you of my wicked ways? (see post 1 for more info) Anyway, I know that I don't have many readers, which is understandable since I only have a few posts. But if I want that to change, then I guess that have to start posting more regularly. Stupid responsilities like...school and my personal life...always seem to get in the way. But no longer (hopefully!) with all the fashion week craziness that has been going on and is yet to come, I'm sure that a fresh new batch of inspiration will come. Fingers crossed!

Okay, so I'm completely obsessed with the Twilight series. Something about vampires and werewolves just give me a warm, fuzzy feeling. Tonight at precisely 12:01 a.m. Breaking Dawn, the last installment of the vampire series will be released and I will be among the hundreds of anxious girls waiting to see if Bella chooses the sexy vampire Edward or the mucho annoying, hairy werewolf Jacob (I think it may be obvious which side I'm pulling for, no?). I'm so excited to get finally get the books after months of anticipation, but I'm also so sad that this is the last book. It better be good!!

Yes, I do. I, along with about fifty billion other people, fell madly in love with his ss08 line. I have been hooked ever since. His designs are edgy, grungy and totally chic all at the same time. The ss08 collection was one that was completely wearable and kept me wanting more. And it doesn't hurt that the très cool Erin Wasson is his bff, muse, and stylist extraordinaire.

His resort 2009 collection is just as lovable as his previous work. A few of my personal favorites...

Book Review! - The Host by Stephenie Meyer

I went into this book with absolutely no expectations at all, but I was thoroughly impressed. It was an easy read and a real page turner. It may not be the most original of topics (alien forces taking over the minds of humans) but the love story, which is the main focus is something that hasn't really been done before. I'm not going to give too much away...I often do that when I start talking about something. So I'm simply gonna say that I recommend the book. I'm giving it 4 stars. Why? Because I can.

Summer Camp!

As a kid, I never went to summer camp, and for most of my life I was totally cool with that. Playing sports, running around, and swimming in murky lake water were so not my style. That was up until Bruce Weber and W magazine decided to present us with their 2008 Summer Camp. They teamed up with Kate Moss, Daria Werbowy, Lara Stone and heaps of up and coming designers and set up camp in Miami, undoubtedly creating the most glamorous summer camp in the history of the world. No one ever told me summer camp could be this fabulous!

We all know and worship the likes of Carine, Emmanuele Alt, Geraldine Saglio, and Mélanie Huynh. They all have that look down pat (you know what look I'm talking about!) and we adore them for it. Until recently I thought that I had to rely strictly on the Vogue Paris team to serve as my sartorial inspiration. Well, that was until I discovered Kate Lanphear. I read her bio before I ever saw a picture of her, and I have to admit, I wasn't too hopeful at first. She's American and she works for US Elle. Didn't sound all that promising. But I took a peek at some of her snapshots and was very pleasantly surprised. With her chic, rocker style paired with a shock of platinum hair and devil may care attitude, she is steadily climbing onto the radars of many fashion devotees. Dope, Fierce, Major (no one really says major do they?!) - choose whatever adjective you want to describe her. I'm gonna go with...cool.

Me and My Blue Suede Shoes

It all begins the same way... On a recent excursion to Barney's, I happened to stumble across these bad boys. Talk about a hello, lover moment. I checked the sticker on the gorgeous red sole and almost had an epiphany. Not only was it my size...no, no, no. It was the last one in stock. If that is not a message from God , then I don't

know what is.

Blue Suede Christian Louboutin Declic...The shoe was absolutely perfect. The shape was classic, flattering and surprisingly comfortable despite the 4.5 inch heel. The color was rich, vibrant and would be the perfect accent on an otherwise simple outfit. I needed those shoes!

Unfortunately, my stay in shoe nirvana was short-lived. Monetary issues suddenly called into mind. Alas, I don't have $650+ dollars just lying around.

So goodbye, my lovely loubies...for now.

...so here it is. Like many things I start, I have a tendency to begin with great passion. But sometimes after a while, that initial passion begins to fizzle. However, I am determined to commit myself to this blog. I WILL stick to it!

That being said, fashion and literature are the two loves of my life. Those two things are what keep me sane. My biggest fear in life is being forced to choose one or the other. I love getting lost in Romeo and Juliet just as much as I love a shopping spree at Chanel. I can't choose, therefore I won't.
